In 2015 Herwig joined i5invest as CEO responsible for Corporate Development and M&A. In this position Herwig can leverage his experience in Deals, high-tech company valuation, renewable energy, corporate development and cross border M&A.
Herwig, a highly recognized and experienced Valuation and Deals expert, has worked in Corporate Finance as well as Deals Consulting since 2005 advising a multitude of clients ranging from Austrian small and medium sized enterprises to multinational corporations. He started his career at PwC in Frankfurt focussing on company analysis and valuations. In the course of numerous transactions he supported his clients with financial modelling and market analysis services. After having returned to Austria Herwig expanded his services scope throughout the deals continuum including business model assessment, business planning, due diligence, valuation and M&A advice. Herwig’s clients were industrial companies (such as Semperit and voestalpine), technology-driven companies in the semiconductor and IT space (such as ams AG and Automic Software) as well as companies pursuing new business models (such as Kapsch and paysafecard). Besides his work, he is still a frequent speaker and trainer at Deals and Corporate Finance conferences.
Herwig graduated from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, holds a CEMS Master’s degree in International Management in conjunction with the Copenhagen Business School, and is currently enrolled in the Master program for Renewable Energy in CEE at the Vienna University of Technology. Furthermore, he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst ® designation and authored various publications in economic literature.
In 2015 Johannes joined i5invest as Director in Corporate Development / M&A. He primarily focuses on planning and executing corporate development and business development projects for companies in the tech, mobile and Industry 4.0 space.
Before joining i5invest Johannes worked for private equity firms in Germany and Austria such as VREP (formerly DZ Equity Partners) in Frankfurt and Austro Holding (a Private Equity Fund managed by Dr. Grossnigg) in Vienna. He led several successful transactions and was responsible for operational and business development projects with portfolio companies in the respective funds.
Whilst a project manager in the Corporate Finance practice of PwC, Johannes was responsible for M&A transactions and Corporate Finance projects including M&A Lead Advice, Due Diligence, Financial Modelling and Valuation. His clients included international corporates as well as Austrian SMEs in various industries including logistics, industrial and equipment manufacturing as well as renewable energy.
He has worked in 3 continents, establishing an international network across Europe, the US and Asia, especially in Hong Kong and China. Based on this, Johannes has substantial experience and expertise working for international corporate clients in cross-border deals as well as structuring and executing transactions. As well as his international network, Johannes also has an extensive network within the Austrian industrial space.
Johannes studied business administration in Austria and the United States, specializing in Corporate Finance, Accounting and Strategy. He is also a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA).
Henry is an Associate at i5invest with a background in Corporate Strategy / Finance and brings strong connections to the London tech scene and financial services industry. He is responsible for supporting the execution of Corporate and Business Development projects, conducting company valuations, due diligence and industry analysis. He also manages relationships within the i5invest network, clients and potential buyers in the CEE region, United Kingdom and Spanish speaking regions. During his time at i5invest he has worked on multiple projects across the online and mobile spaces, including; FinTech, AgTech, Analytics, CRM and Collaboration Software.
Having worked in Corporate Strategy roles in Retail / Consumer Goods at Adidas in Germany and Oil & Gas at OMV in Austria, with a focus on digital projects, he can leverage his multinational connections and understanding of the potential for technological disruption in these industries helping i5invest clients scale and exit globally.
Henry grew up in the UK and Spain and holds a B.A. in Business Management from Newcastle University (UK) with a focus on finance. He speaks fluent Spanish and is currently learning German and Croatian to improve his capabilities in the Central and Eastern European and Balkan regions.
In 2015 David joined i5invest as an Associate. He brings a strong background in Corporate Finance and Business Modelling and is responsible for the supporting with the preparation and execution of business and corporate development projects, this involves market analysis, financial planning, company valuation, information memorandums and reach out to strategic partners and investors.
David studied in Austria and Canada and holds a B.A. in Finance and Accounting from the University of Applied Science, Upper Austria. As alumni of the renowned European Innovation Academy and while working for Nimbusec, FoodLoop and i5invest David has gained an in depth insight into the areas of FoodTech, AgTech, IT Security, enterprise software (including CRM, MRM, DAM) and Industry 4.0 (IoT).
Before joining i5invest David worked as a finance consultant covering the areas of valuation, managerial accounting, financial modelling, tax and audit at PwC, BDO and OMV. He can leverage his past project experience to support i5invest’s clients to analyse, plan and prepare their financials and company information to attract and win international investors and business partners.
Ingomar joined i5invest’s Corporate Development / M&A team in 2016.
With a background in management consulting for Arthur D. Little, advising various blue-chip clients in the field of Technology, Media and Telecommunications, Ingomar enriches i5invest’s Business and Corporate Development services with strategy analytics and a strong network.
Experienced from various Corporate Strategy, Due Diligence- and M&A advisory projects for global tech giants, his expertise in analytical business model assessment, market analysis, business development and hands-on project management are a valuable resource for i5invest’s clients.
Prior to management consulting, Ingomar started his career at the apparel retailer Abercrombie & Fitch for whom he recruited the first generation of local management during the company’s rollout of seven Hollister stores throughout Austria and Poland. Specialized in corporate finance, he graduated with a B.Sc. in business administration from the Karl-Franzens-University of Graz in 2011.

Dora joined i5invest in early 2016 complementing the team with a deep background in Corporate Finance and Strategy. Her responsibilities include supporting the execution of Corporate and Business Development Projects by conducting financial planning, company valuation and market analysis.
Dora holds a B.Sc. in International Economics Management and Finance from the University of Bocconi (Milan, Italy) with a major in Economics. As a member of the university’s Entrepreneurship Club and while working at i5invest, Dora has gained a deep insight and developed interest in the fields of EdTech, Enterprise Collaboration, Online Gaming and Big Data.
Previously, she worked in Corporate Finance roles in online retail at Home24 in Berlin and M&A Advisory at Falkenburg Corporate Finance in Budapest. Her international exposure and passion for financial modelling are leveraged while working with i5invest’s clients. She especially enjoys disentangling complex models providing clients with a dynamic internal reporting scheme.
Born in Vienna, Georg studied at the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) where he gained his BSc (Hons) in Management Sciences. He completed an IT project in Brussels before joining the Austrian company Mondial Congress, the Central European market leader in Congress Management and ranking among the leading Professional Congress Organizers (PCOs) on an international level. In 2006 Georg completed his Master of Process Management at the Danube University Krems (Donau Universität Krems), Austria. Around this time he joined forces with Vienna based party.at the european pioneer – online since 1997 – in online event photography and an online event magazine since the very beginning. For the Vienna company impacts, Georg successfully managed the key account Austria Center Vienna (ACV), which is Austria’s largest conference centre and which belongs to the top players in Europe. He believes in quality of things and cooperation and enjoys being able to contribute to the success of i5invest. Georg takes care of general process management and all relevant HR issues at i5invest and related companies.
Born in Vienna, Markus Wagner has worked in mobile & internet communication from the outset of his career.
In 2000 he founded Xidris and acted as the company’s managing director until 2004. Xidris soon became one of Europe’s leading providers of mobile communication services. It was subsequently merged into the 3united AG which was sold to the US company VeriSign Inc. in early 2006. As Vice-President for Product Innovations & Business Development of VeriSign Markus divided his time between Vienna and New York and worked with US media companies such as NBC, CBS, FOX and ClearChannel to launch new interactive and content services. In 2007 Markus founded the business incubator i5invest (CEE). He hold several supervisory board positions in European venture capital funds as well as startups. Markus was awarded as the Austrian Business Angel 2010 and won the Austrian Private Equity & Venture Capital Award 2010. Markus is co-founder of the Austrian web/mobile/high-tech cluster InitialFactor located in Vienna and co-organizer of the STARTUP WEEK.
Since his transition from the USA back to Europe Steffen joined i5invest as a Partner. He has strong qualifications, credentials and experience in the field of Strategy and M&A. Previously, he worked for KPMG’s Private Equity Group as an M&A Director in New York and Amsterdam being responsible for leading buy/sell-side and (re)financing transactions for strategic, Fortune 1,000 companies and private equity investors. Prior to joining KPMG Steffen worked as a Strategy advisor at Andersson Elffers Felix. He is adept in enhancing value for start-up/later-stage growth and Tier-1 companies and investors across the deal and economic cycle. With more than 40 significant (cross-border) deals throughout Europe and the USA he built up extensive industry experience in, amongst others, Consumer Markets and Technology, Media & Telecommunication. Steffen holds a MSc. degree from the Tilburg University in Economics and Business Administration and is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (London, UK).
Trevor has been in the field of corporate business development, strategy, and M&A with startups, venture capital firms, private equity groups, Fortune 1000 companies, and top law firms around the globe for over 20 years.
Trevor is recognized for his leadership and success in growing businesses from inception to multi-billion-dollar enterprises. He has a talent for transforming disadvantages into strengths, turning complex issues into simple executable action plans, facing challenges head-on and never losing sight of the greater vision.
Trevor holds a MBA from Columbia University and UC Berkeley, and a JD from McGeorge School of Law. He has founded Eisbach Group, a consulting firm, and also TC2 Legal, a boutique law firm.
Christian joined i5invest as a Partner to support companies with driving innovation as well as business and corporate development assistance.
He is based in Munich / Germany and focuses on the Automotive industry, Mobility market, Industrial- and Energy Technologies. With combining in-depth sector and corporate development expertise, Christian can identify the potential of tech companies and lead them to accelerated growth. Christian truly knows how to scale an organization to a global player by leveraging his network, partnerships and innovative financing solutions.
In 2008 he founded zielpuls, a company focusing on Strategy, Technology and IT consultancy. He scaled the company to 120 employees and in 2016 sold zielpuls in order to invest and support new ventures and businesses ideas. He gained deep expertise in automotive development processes, connectivity of vehicles and autonomous driving. Moreover he was responsible for recruiting talents and introducing employee programs.
Prior to being an entrepreneur he worked as a technology consultant in distributed wide electronic systems.
Christian studied mechatronics at the university of Weingarten and Queensland University of Technology. Additionally, he holds several certificates and professional developments in economics and corporate development.
Martin is founder and CTO of Adspired Technologies. Ciuvo has merged with pMediaNetwork into Adspired Technologies in 2014. As founder and CEO of Ciuvo, which builds technologies and tools for e-commerce websites that make user’s online shopping experience more convenient with real-time price comparison and shopping related content, Martin was building a strong business with an extraordinary team of software architects and data scientist in the area of e-commerce lead generation and advertisement technology.
Previously he was employed at VeriSign, Inc. working out of the Vienna and Salzburg offices which have been mainly focused on mobile services. As the Director of Engineering for these branches Martin has been leading the teams primarily focused on the implementation of platforms for messaging aggregation, mobile payments, interactive services and mobile portals. He joined VeriSign through the acquisition of 3united mobile solutions AG in 2006 and has since helped to shape the mobile business. From 2007 until 2008 Martin served as member of the executive board.
He has gained excellent skills in team building and software engineering and has participated in corporate activities such as budget and headcount planning, mergers and acquisitions. Throughout his career he has acquired in-depth knowledge of different programming languages and environments, including internet technologies, operating systems and telecommunication systems. Since 1999 Christian has successfully raised 10+ large rounds in venture funding for “his” companies and closed an array of trade sales, acquisitions and mergers both in Europe and the US.
Christian has 15+ years experience as an entrepreneur, with vast experience across internet, software, media and consumer goods industries. He studied Industrial Engineering at the Technical University of Vienna and after completing 90% of the degree he dropped out to become a technology entrepreneur and found his first software-company. In 1996 his business was acquired and the buyers appointed him to build the leading regional online-platforms of Austria Online.
In 1999 he founded UCP, a mobile internet venture consisting of 2 consumer portals (sms.at, uboot.com – with 7 million users in total) and a software business; “ucp morgen” (mobile content delivery & billing). UCP raised €40million until merging in 2005 with Qpass, and the merged company was ultimately sold to Amdocs Inc. for $275m in 2006.
In 2007 Christian co-founded Fatfoogoo, a platform for trading “in-game-items”, which was bought in 2010 by Digital River Inc.
In 2011 he joined as executive of The Impossible Project (COO), which he had co-founded in 2005. He raised several rounds of funding (€30+m) for its “Polaroid Instant Film” production, to establish a camera hardware production and build up a global presence.

Martin has 20+ years experience in leading management positions at international tech companies. At IBM Martin redefined the Go To Market and Sales strategy and shaped the transformation of IBM’s Services Business – from Technical Support to IBM Global Support Services.
In 2000 Martin co-founded Solve Direct which under his leadership became the world’s largest Service Ticket Exchange. Martin served as CEO until 2007, when the company was acquired by Brain Force Holding AG. In 2010 Solve Direct was demerged and Martin led the company’s global growth until Cisco acquired the company in 2013.
At Cisco Martin has built and leads Cisco’s Open Innovation Programs in EMEAR (Entrepreneurs in Residence and Challenge Up!) within which IoT startups are incubated and accelerated for a 6 months cycle. This way startups work together on a global scale with Cisco Business Units and partners (e.g. Intel, Deutsche Telekom). For Entrepreneurs Martin contributes his experience in VC funding, Business Modeling & -Development and integration into Corporate Structures for growth while ensuring the Co-Innovation impact for Cisco and its partners. As member of Cisco’s ‘Founders Round Table’ he contributes with Thought Leadership to the Executive Board.

Thomas Reiter founded Reiter PR (www.reiterpr.com) in 2004. In the past decade, Thomas has successfully positioned more than 100 start-ups and tech companies in the media, receiving numerous awards for his PR work as an Internet pioneer among Austrian PR-managers, giving him a broad and solid experience base to leverage for ongoing and future PR work. After studying at Vienna University and Ecole Supérieure de Commerce Normandie Thomas began his career in Sales and Marketing at SAMSUNG Electronics (Austria). Thomas was promoted to Head of Marketing (Austria) for all SAMSUNG telecommunications products, and within this role he imported the first SAMSUNG mobile phone to Austria (in 1998). In 2000 he joined the leading internet startup ucp.ag (uboot.com, sms.at) and built their European PR organization.
Matthias joined i5invest in 2015 and complements the team with a wide spectrum of programming skill and profound tech knowledge especially in areas such as web development, e-commerce and mobile development. He drives our online communication and supports the team with special tech knowledge.
During his study of Business Informatics at the Technical University of Vienna, Matthias has gained significant IT and business knowledge. He already worked with international software development teams with focus on access management and ticketing solutions, where he became proficient with object-orient programming, web services and mobile programming.
Daniel has 15+ years experience in B2B sales, product management, marketing and client services. He was born in Salzburg, but spent his first 13 years in Switzerland, Israel and China before returning to Austria.
In 2000 he a co-founded Emarsys, a leading global provider of marketing automation software and the first marketing cloud for retail and e-commerce, where he lead the marketing efforts for the first years. In 2012 he took ownership of the company’s global client services operations with a team of 100+ in more than 10 offices across Europe and Asia. After Emarsys launched it’s US operations in 2015, Daniel decided to refocus his efforts on helping other startups succeed and founded his own corporate consulting company. Always the budding entrepreneur, he is also the co-founder of Craftwines, a company focused on promoting organically produced wines of small artisan vintners.

The native-born Romanian launched his first company shortly after finishing his business studies in Bucharest, and led the consulting company specialised on EU aid money as CEO for 3 years. Vlad relocated to Vienna at the beginning of 2010, not least because of the high living standards of the city. Vlad founded the Viennese chapter of the world-renowned TED talks and developed with TEDxVienna one of the largest and most active innovation communities in Austria. In 2012 Vlad joined the successful Austrian incubator i5invest as Associate. Here he co-founded the technology startup Adspired Technologies, that develops innovative marketing and e-commerce tools. Since 2013, Vlad is also a founding board member of Austrianstartups, an NGO focused on supporting and promoting startups in Austria.
Stephan is an entrepreneurial generalist with an impressive track record in founding & funding start-ups. On his academic side of life, he has gained significant experience and knowledge in research and teaching entrepreneurship, currently as professor for entrepreneurship at University of Applied Sciences Krems.
